Profile Summary
Solvemed is currently recruiting a scientific partnerships officer, with substantial experience leading research and development partnering initiatives in life sciences.
- Extensive experience in strategic collaboration building for life science R&D projects mandatory
- Strong practical understanding of research-oriented deals for product (co-)development purposes in the context of biomarkers
- Strong practical understanding of research-oriented commercial collaborations strongly preferred
- Multi-sectorial partnership building experience across healthcare providers, life sciences industry, academia, and goverment preferred
- Ability to negotiate collaboration terms, including regarding IP, data ownership, access and sharing, and commercial terms mandatory
- Past professional experience in neuroscience and/or biomarkers and/or digital tools welcome
- Entrepreneurial, proactive, can-do attitude mandatory
- Experience in building and growing relevant external networks across diverse stakeholders welcome
Objective
The overall objective of the role is to:
- Take the overall responsibility for company’s partnering strategy across all relevant sectors, in close collaboration with company management and relevant Heads
- Actively lead company’s partnering strategy execution, from relationship initiation to hands-on deal making to partnership development and maintenance
- Through partnering, actively support generation of scientific validation evidence required for R&D projects, commercial agreements, product implementation, and regulatory submissions
- Through partnering, actively support product development and validation efforts through strategic research work
- Actively lead value proposition generation for industrial and healthcare provider clients partners and clients.
Responsibilities
- Set strategic R&D partnering Objectives and Key Results sand strategy towards biomarker validation, product development and commercial deals, in close collaboration with the company management
- Engage and coordinate external research and/or commercial partners, as necessary and in line with company R&D, business and partnering strategies
- Lead negotiations of partnerships/collaborations terms, especially in regard to project ethics, commercial terms, intellectual property rights, data ownership and access
- Support formulation of research aims and study design relevant to prospective collaborations, in close collaboration with Head of Research
- Engage industrial, academic, and clinical KOLs to help establish and grow company’s advisory board
- Support project management and administration of research and commercial activities across all stakeholders including partners, trial site(s) and in-house team
- Help establish relationships with the national international academic and industrial research community, including external research networks and funding councils, building relationships to increase collaborative working opportunities in research settings
- Develop SOPs and work instructions to ensure effective and efficient partnering work across the organisation
- Develop effective relationships and rapport with colleagues and clinical research partners as well as the relevant regulatory authorities such as the FDA, EMA and MHRA
- Monitor and report collaboration progress in co-ordination with CROs, where relevant
- Coordinate internal work necessary for successful delivery of research and development work objectives – this includes managing and growing own team and working closely with the Heads of other company divisions
- Support strategic product implementation across healthcare providers for research and commercial purposes
- Work closely and communicate openly with colleagues in product development, data science, regulatory, and commercial teams for maximum organisational alignment and work effectiveness
- Where needed, manage own budget, in accordance with company’s cash flows and capital needs
- Actively grow their team and pro-actively help with recruitment
- Actively represent the organisation and especially its research and development efforts at conferences, and other, depending on the strategic needs of the company
Qualifications
- At least 4 years of partnership management experience in a life science start-up and/or industrial context (PhD research not included)
- Demonstrable track record of relevant world-class of research-oriented non-commercial and commercial deal-making, preferably at the clinical stage and in neuroscience and/or biomarkers and/or medical devices
- Strong network of relevant potential service providers, KOLs/advisors, potential collaborators, research partners
- Working knowledge of clinical study design, including in clinical protocol design, study planning experience
- Preferably, experience in working in small-medium sized medical technology companies, especially on point-of-care technologies in proof-of-concept development stages
- Preferably, demonstrable entrepreneurship experience, especially in building own venture in life sciences and/or collaborative project design
- Preferably, experience managing budgets in research and development collaborations context
- PhD from a strong university welcome
- Welcome past experience in neurosciences, neuro-ophthalmology, ophthalmology, biomarkers
